A complaint inspection was initiated on February 8, 2022 and concluded on February 8, 2022. A complaint was received by the department regarding allegations in the areas of safe sleep practices. Observations and interviews were conducted onsite. Additional information and records were obtained virtually for review to complete the investigation.
The evidence gathered during the investigation supported the allegation of non-compliance with standards or law and violations were issued.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-370-1 Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on observation and interview, the center did not ensure when an infant falls asleep in a play space that is not safe, the child is moved to an appropriate sleep area.
Evidence:
Child #1, 12 months in age, was observed sleeping in a beanbag chair on the floor of the infant room.
Staff #1 stated that infants sometimes sleep in the beanbag chairs. An infant who falls asleep in a play space as specified in subdivision 5a may remain in that space if comfortable and safe, beanbag chairs are not considered a safe sleep surface.Plan of Correction: Not available online.
