Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between 9:30 and 12:30. There were 87 children present with 19 staff supervising. The children were observed participating in a number of activities inside and on the playground. The physical plant, emergency plans, evacuation logs, attendance logs, menu's, allergy list and child and staff records were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are listed on the Violation Notice. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that areas inside and outside of the center are maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition;

Evidence:
In the Pre-K classroom there is paint peeling from the wooden tray in the bathroom.
In the Sr. Preschool classroom there is chipping and peeling paint around the baseboard.
In the Jr. Preschool 1 classroom there is peeling paint on the wall near the changing table.

Plan of Correction: I will speak to the owner regarding repainting areas.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-290-A-3
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that all outlets had protective covers.

Evidence:
In the Toddler 1 classroom, one outlet cover was missing.
In the Infant 2 classroom 2 outlet covers were missing.

Plan of Correction: This violation was corrected during the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-540-A
Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure that the first aid kit contained all required supplies.

Evidence:
The first aid kit was missing a first aid manual and ice packs.

Plan of Correction: I will replace these items in the first aid kit.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-C
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that emergency preparedness information was posted in every building and on every floor in which children are served.

Evidence:
The Emergency Preparedness Plan was not posted in the facility.

Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection.
