This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using a hybrid inspection protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and an on-site inspection.
A renewal inspection was initiated on March 8, 2022 and concluded on March 9, 2022. There were six children present, ranging in ages from three to five years of age, with two staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of two child records and three staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-G Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that food brought in from home was properly labeled with the date and the name of the owner.
Evidence:
1.Lunch items were setting on the counter in the foyer right outside of the classroom. The items were not labeled with a name or the date.
2. Staff verified that the items had not been labeled with the name of the child or the date.Plan of Correction: The lunch boxes will be labeled with the name of the child. All food will remain in the lunchbox until lunch time. The staff will remove the items from the lunchbox at lunch time and assist the children in opening the items.
