Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted at 11:50am. There were 90 children and 16 direct-care staff were present. Ratios and supervision were in compliance at the time of the inspection. Children were observed having outdoor active play on the playground, eating lunch, washing hands, and preparing for naps. The facility was found to be very clean, and classrooms were well supplied with toys and equipment for the children. Recordkeeping was found to be in good order. Information gathered during the inspection determined there were areas of non-compliance with applicable standards or laws reviewed. Questions about this inspection may be directed to pamela.sneed@doe.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-440-J
Description: Based on observations made, it was determined that one occupied crib did not have a minimum of 30" clearance on the service side. Evidence: An infant was observed sleeping in a crib that had less than 30" of clearance on either side and the adjacent cribs.

Plan of Correction: The Director corrected this during the inspection by moving cribs, as needed, and explaining to the staff the clearance requirement. Follow-up with staff about crib placement will occur.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-L
Description: Based on observations made, it was determined that 2 of 3 prescription medications in classroom were found to be not stored in a locked manner. Evidence: The medications were hanging on the wall (out of reach of the children) in medication storage bags however, the locks on 2 of 3 bags were not secured and the bags were open.

Plan of Correction: The Director removed the medication bags from the classroom immediately, and will either fix the locks or replace the medication bags to ensure they are locking properly before returning them to the classroom.
