Comments:
A Complaint was received in the Office of Child Care health and Safety regarding supervision and children's injuries.
The complaint investigation included review of documentation, observation and interviews. A complaint inspection was conducted at the facility on 4/14/2022.
A preponderance of evidence did not support the allegation of a lack of supervision resulting in numerous children's injuries.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Complaint related: No
Description: Based upon observation and staff interview, the facility has not ensured that staff-to-children ratios are maintained when children are in care.
Evidence:
1. Upon arrival of the inspector at 1:05 PM, there were five infants in care with one staff person, staff 2. The required staff-to-children ratio for infants in four children per staff person.
2. Staff 2 stated that the second staff person had gone on a lunch break.
3. A second staff person arrived and went on duty with the infants after 15 minutes.

Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following:
Director will stagger lunch breaks so that ratios are proper.

Complaint related: No
Description: Based upon observation and staff interview, the facility has not ensured that medication including staff's personal medication is kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. There was a bottle of an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) on top of the two drawer filing cabinet in the infant classroom.
2. Staff 2 acknowledged the presence of the medication on top of the cabinet and locked it in the file cabinet drawer.

Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following:
Staff keep medication locked up in file cabinet.
