The boundry of the pre-school classroom is the doorway by the bathroom. Staff leaving the classroom beyond this point is no longer in sight and sound of the children in the classroom. Recommendation of a mirror mounted in classroom to have a more unobstructed view when in the bathroom area.
A staff member in the kitchen will not be counted in ratio.
Damage to fence is being repaired ( tree fell during storm).
Discussed family style component to lunch and snack to help children engage.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 11:30 am- 1:30 pm. There were 49 children in care at the time of the inspection directly supervised by 8 staff members. Child to staff ratios were found to be in compliance.
The physical plant, staff records, child records, medication policies and medications, evacuation drills, a sample of injury reports,emergency supplies and policies were reviewed.
Information gathered determined violations with applicable code or law and is noted on the Violation Report.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A Description: Based upon observation, areas and equipment were found to be in an unsafe condition at the time of the inspection.
Evidence:
4 cribs in the infant classroom were found to have peeling paint on all top edges.
1 rocking/ bouncy seat was observed to have a bolt sticking out of the attached base.
There is an exposed water drainage tube that is exposed directly in front of the gate used to enter the playground ( tripping hazard).
Mulch needs to be redistributed on the playground, currently observed to be uneven leaving large areas uncovered under swings.Plan of Correction: We will order new cribs today.
The bouncy seat was removed during the inspection.
The mulch is washing away due to the rain and will be fixed.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-330-E Description: Based upon observation, sandbox was not covered.
Evidence: The sandbox on the playground does not have a cover to protect from the elements and animal. It is also a fall hazard due to the fact that it is not full of sand and has a large drop from the edge to the bottom.Plan of Correction: We have not been told to cover before. We will get a cover.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-440-E Description: Based upon observation, 12 inches of space was not maintained between nap cots.
Evidence: The 2's classrom was observed during nap time and 3 cots did not have space of required 12 inches in between for sleeping.Plan of Correction: The cots were moved during the inspection. Teachers were trying not to block exits.
