Technical assistance was offered related to: Medications, attendance, children's records and the center's policies to be updated as per the current licensing regulations.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:45 am to 11:55am. There were 15 children in the Pre-K classroom in the direct care and supervision of 3 staff members. The children were observed during circle time, after which they broke into small groups activities such as painting, play dough, listening to stories on an IPAD and coloring. Lunches brought from home were labeled. Medications were reviewed for one child with a diagnosed food allergy. 3 children's records, 3 staff records and attendance record was reviewed. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-K Description: Based on staff interview, the center did not develop written procedures for the prevention of abusive head trauma.
Evidence: Staff # 1 stated that they did not have a written policy for the prevention of abusive head trauma.Plan of Correction: Head trauma plan is posted on the board.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A Description: Based on records review, children?s records were not complete.
Evidence: Child # 1, Child # 2 and Child # 3?s records were missing the first date of enrollment.Plan of Correction: First date of enrollment added on every file.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-80-A Description: Based on record review and staff interview, the center did not maintain daily attendance for children in care, as it occurred.
Evidence:
1. A review of the attendance record for 9/19/22 showed that the arrival and departure of each child in care was not documented, as it occurred.
2. Staff # 1 stated that they were using one check mark for each child, to show that a child attended that day.Plan of Correction: New attendance records were created and put in place going forward.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-90--A Description: Based on record review, a written and signed agreement including between the parent and the center was not included in each child's record by the first day of the child's attendance.
Evidence: Child # 3's record did not include the written agreement signed by the child's parent which includes the notification of ill children policy; communicable disease policy and the authorization of emergency medical care.Plan of Correction: Written agreement was filed under Child # 3's record.
