Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on September 28, 2022 from 3:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M. There were 61 children present, ranging in ages from five years to twelve years of age , with eight staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of six child records and eight staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Description: Based on review of children records and medications, the center failed to obtain a written care plan for a child with a diagnosed food allergy.

Evidence:
1. Child #1 had an emergency medication, (Epi-Pen), at the center due to a diagnosed food allergy. There was not documentation of a written care plan on file for Child #1.
2. Administration verified that the written care plan for Child #1 could not be located.

Plan of Correction: Administration contacted the parent while the Licensing Inspector was on site, and requested that a written care plan be obtained from the child's physician.
