Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:40 am-11:15 am. There were 68 children directly supervised by 14 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 4 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed playing in centers with manipulatives, building with blocks, playing outside, listening to music and dancing. The infants were observed arriving into care and engaged in 1 on 1 interactions. Handwashing and diaper changing were observed. Interactions between children and staff were observed and deemed to be positive. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:

In toddler classroom 1 bleach water was on the counter next to the sink.

In toddler classroom 2 acrylic paint marked "keep out of reach of children" were stored in a bin on the art shelf next to the window,Steramine cleaning tablets were on the counter next to the sink and bleach water was on the counter next to the sink.

In Primary classroom 2 bleach water was stored on counter next to sink.

Plan of Correction: Chemicles were locked in cabinets and staff reminded during the inspection.
