Technical Assistance:
Consultation was given on ensuring there is a staff member or independent contractor who is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia to administer prescribed medications (Standard 8VAC20-780-245-J and 8VAC20-780-510-B.1) at the center at all times.

Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on November 16, 2022 between the hours of 10:40am and 1:15pm.There were 29 children present, with 7 staff supervising within the supervision guidelines. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 4 child records and 4 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-290-A-3
Description: Based on observation, child-resistant protective covers were not installed on all unused electrical outlets accessible to children of preschool age or younger.
Evidence:
In the 2-3 year old class (Under the Sea) the outlet in the circle area did not have a protective cover installed on the electrical outlet.

Plan of Correction: The teacher installed the protective cover on the electrical outlet.

Violation was corrected during the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-330-B
Description: Based on observations, it was determine the resilient surfacing on the playground does not comply with minimum safety standards.
Evidence:
1.On the large children?s playground, there is less than ?? of mulch beneath the children?s equipment that has moving parts or climbing apparatus.
2. The fall zone does not encompass a sufficient area in the event of a fall while the equipment is in use.
3. The small children?s playground does not have any resilient surfacing underneath the slides and climbing structures.

Plan of Correction: I will contact a contractor to get more mulch installed. For the time, I will add rubber mats under the equipment.
