Technical Assistance:
Provided consultation on standard:
1) 60 A 8 - a written care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include steps from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction. This plan shall be maintained onsite at the center, with the child, along with the prescribed emergency medication.
2) 80 A - for each group of children, the center shall maintain a written record of attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs
3) 270 E - Drinking fountains or individual disposable cups with safe drinking water shall be accessible at all times.
4) 500 A - Children's hands shall be washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after eating meals and snacks. According to the CDC, washing hands with soap and water is the best way to remove all types of germs.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 4:30 - 5:00 pm with staff. There were 26 children, ranging from five years to ten years of age, present with four staff supervising. Children were observed eating snack and participating in a variety of age-appropriate centers/activities. Snack served today: pretzels and oranges. Four onsite staff records and two onsite child records were reviewed at the time of the inspection along with three emergency medications, the daily attendance record, emergency drill log, written list of food allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions, and the required posted information. Four staff records were reviewed off site at the Massad YMCA on 11/17/2022. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-160-A
Description: Based on review of four staff records, the center did not have documentation of a negative tuberculosis (TB) test/ screening for staff completed within the last 30 calendar days of the date of employment. Evidence: the record for staff #4 (date of hire: 5/25/2022) had a TB test/screening dated 9/11/2021.

Plan of Correction: Going forward, will ensure that documentation is obtained within the required time frames.
