An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today.
There were 12 children present with two staff supervising.
The children were having a snack, having circle time and preparing to go on a field trip.
Two child records were reviewed on site. Two staff records were reviewed at the main office.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on a tour of the playground, the facility failed to ensure that all equipment is safe.
Evidence:
1. On the new climber where the deck meets the slides, there is a gap of 1/8 to1/4 of an inch wide, presenting an entanglement point.

Plan of Correction: Facilities Manager will ensure that climber's deck has been secured to the slide.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-330-B
Description: Based on a tour of the playground, the facility failed to ensure that all areas under the climber are covered with six inches of resilient surface material.
Evidence:
1. Under the red, blue and yellow climber there are areas which have less than one inch of rubber mulch.

Plan of Correction: Rubber mulch will be raked to ensure there is at least 6 inches under the climber.
