A complaint investigation was initiated on 11/15 /2022 and concluded on 12/15/2022 from a report received by the Fairfax Licensing Office on 11/10 /2022 regarding inappropriate child guidance.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-E Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on staff interviews and policy review, the center was not in compliance with the center's own required policies and procedures.
Evidence:
On October 25, 2022, Child 1 was removed from her classroom by Staff 1 in a manner that involved carrying the child around by the wrist and then around the armpit after the child's body went limp. The child was then given to another staff member and made comments along the line of "I'm not dealing with her." and "Here you go."
The Center's written Behavior Guidance policy for parents "does not permit emotional punishment, including ridicule, embarrassment, or humiliation.Plan of Correction: All staff will be re-trained in Behavior Guidance. Staff 1 has been formally written up with a final warning.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-400-B Complaint related: No Description: Based on staff interviews, behavioral guidance was not constructive in nature or intended to redirect children to appropriate behavior and resolve conflicts.
