An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 12/30/2022 from 10:45am to 12:00pm. There were 62 preschoolers directly supervised by 11 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 5 children?s records, no children's medications and medication authorization records, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, listening to stories, preparing for and eating lunch. Hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was a sufficient supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation, the facility did not ensure that hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children; if a key is used it must be kept inaccessible to children.
Evidence:
1) observed children's toothpaste, marked keep out of reach of children, accessible to children in an unlocked drawer in room C-4.
2) observed in room C-3, a cabinet that stored cleaning agents and other disinfectants had a key in the lock, that was accessible to children.Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
