Technical Assistance:
When schools are combined, it is the expectation that all medications and their authorizations be available on site at all times when the medication is present.

Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted with the director, today was a teacher work day and this program was combined with two additional programs/schools. The inspection was conducted from 11:50am to 12:35 PM. The program will be operating the entire day. Fifty three children were onsite with five staff supervising.
The children were engaged in zone time during the inspection.
Ten medications for seven children were reviewed as well as allergy care plans for five children. Four staff files were reviewed as well.The area of non compliance is outlined on the violation notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-E
Description: Based on observation, interview and a review of the medications on site, it was determined that the center did not have authorization to administer Epinephrine, Diphenhydramine and albuterol inhaler for Child A and albuterol inhaler for child B.
