An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on site beginning 2/23/2023 from 10:15am through 11:05am. Additional documentation was requested from the site and the inspection ended on 2/24/2023. There were 42 children directly supervised by 4 staff and all classrooms were in ratio. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, menus, 2 staff records, 2 board officer records, 5 children?s records, emergency drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. It was reported there were no medications on site. Children were observed playing in centers, completing 100th day of school activities, doing crafts, playing with blocks, tracing names and shapes. Handwashing procedures were also observed prior to children eating snack. Positive interactions between children and staff were observed during this inspection. There was an abundant supply of age appropriate materials for the children and the center was clean and organized. There was an adequate number of CPR/First Aid and Daily Health Observation trained staff on site at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-4 Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain the results of a criminal history record search prior to hire or request a search of the child abuse and neglect central registry within 30 days of hire from all states in which staff have resided within the last 5 years.
Evidence:
1. Staff #4 (Date of Hire: 9/6/2022) has resided in California and Maryland within the last 5 years as documented on a Sworn Disclosure Statement signed by the staff on 6/27/2022. The center did not obtain the results of a criminal history record search for California and did not have documentation requesting a search of the child abuse and neglect central registry from California or Maryland for Staff #4.
2. Staff #5 (Date of Hire: 9/8/2022) has resided in Pennsylvania within the last 5 years as documented on a Sworn Disclosure Statement signed by the staff on 3/30/2022.
