An unannounced subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on March 7, 2023 from approximately 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. There were 28 children and 5 staff present. 5 staff records and 4 children?s records were reviewed. The children were observed taking a nap while the licensing inspector was on site.
A complete licensing inspection was also conducted on this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in the licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Please complete the plan of correction and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today, 03/23/2023. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s), 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again, and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measure(s).

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1 Description: Based on records review, the center failed to ensure that all staff who work directly with children have current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Evidence: The record for staff # 5, date of employment 05/26/20, contained documentation of CPR certification dated 03/22/19. Plan of Correction: Per the center "all staff has CPR/First Aid."
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-2 Description: Based on records review, the center failed to ensure that all staff who work directly with children have current certification in first aid. Evidence: The record for staff # 5, date of employment 05/26/20, contained documentation of first aid certification dated 03/22/19. Plan of Correction: Per the center "all staff has completed CPR/First Aid."
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-F Description: Based on records review, the center failed to ensure that all staff who work directly with children shall annually attend the departments health and safety update course. Evidence: 1) The record for staff #3, date of employment 11/15/21, contained documentation of the annual health and safety course dated 11/21/21. 2) The record for staff #4, date of employment 06/15/17, contained documentation of the annual health and safety course dated 05/26/20. Plan of Correction: Per the center "staff members will complete today on 3/28/23."
