Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 3/8/2023 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. A total of 34 children were present with 8 caregivers. The children were engaged in the following: doing homework, playing inside hockey, playing outside, reading books, doing homework, and eating snack which consisted of mixed fruit, cole slaw, fish patty, and bun. Programming, menus, emergency procedures, 1 medication, and 6 children?s records and 3 staff records were reviewed.

A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Description: Based on record review, the center did not ensure that all staff obtain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care within 90 days of employment.

Evidence: Staff #2 (Date of Hire: 9/28/2022) and Staff #3 (Date of Hire: 6/20/2022) did not have documentation of current CPR certification on file at the time of inspection.

Plan of Correction: Staff #2 will provide a copy of CPR training card. Staff #3 will be scheduled to attend a CPR class within 30 days.

Description: Based on record review, the center did not ensure that all staff obtain first aid certification appropriate to the ages of children in care within 90 days of employment.

Plan of Correction: Staff 2 will provide card from CPR training. Staff 3 will be scheduled to attend first aid class within 30 days.
