An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 4, 2023, from 9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. There were 95 children present, ranging in ages from six months to 12 years old with 18 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision and programming. Two staff records were fully reviewed, and 20 staff records were reviewed partially for required updated documentation regarding background checks, tuberculosis screenings, CPR and First Aid certifications, trainings and qualifications.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on review of records, the center failed to ensure that background checks were repeated every five years.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780(4)-310-E Description: Based on observation, interview and review of records, the center failed to ensure that when children are on the outdoor play area, at least 75 square feet of space per child was provided.
Evidence:
1. The inspector observed 37 children on the playground. Staff #6, #11, #14 and #22, confirmed that there were 37 children on the playground at the time of the inspection.
