This Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was initiated by licensing staff and concluded on 04/12/2023, between the hours of 9:30 am to 1 pm. There were 56 children present, with 9 staff supervising, across 7 separate classrooms. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined (2) non-compliances with the applicable standards, code, and/or law. Violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the center.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1 Description: Based on review, 1 of 11 staff files indicated that a staff person did not obtain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care within 90 days of their start date.
Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (04/12/2023), certification in CPR and First Aid was not available for review for Staff #10.
2. The start date for Staff #10 was listed as 11/08/2022.Plan of Correction: This training has been scheduled.
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-F Description: Based on review, 1 of 11 staff files indicated that the department's health and safety update course was not completed.
Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (04/12/2023), a certificate of completion of the Annual Update Health and Safety course in 2022 was not available for Staff #1.
2. The last certificate of completion on file for Staff #1 was dated - 11/03/2021.Plan of Correction: This staff person will be instructed to complete this training.
