Comments:
An unannounced renewal study was conducted from 11:15 am - 1:30 pm. There were 76 children in care being supervised by 15 staff. The children were observed eating lunch and preparing for rest time. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of six child records and five staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation of classroom 2 it was determined that not all hazardous substances were kept locked preventing access by children. Evidence: Hazardous substances such as disinfectant spray, bleach water, adhesive remover, and medication was observed in an unlocked closet in classroom two.

Plan of Correction: The hazardous substances were removed and placed in a locked location during the inspection. The key to the closet broke in the door and is scheduled to be repaied by maintenance.
