An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 4/13/2023 from 12:40pm-1:44pm. At the time of the inspection there were 49 children in care and 17 staff members. Children were observed participating in quiet time activities and naptime.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A Description: Based on observation it was determined that the center did not ensure that areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, was maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition.
Evidence:
The wood edging, used to maintain perimeter of the surfacing on the school age playground was splintered in multiple areas.Plan of Correction: Facility will ensure that edging is sanded and children are closely supervised until the edging can be replaced
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation it was determined that the center did not ensure that children could not access hazardous substances and harmful chemicals.
Evidence:
1. Two gallons of house paint were stored in the toddler classroom behind a curtain. This is an area that children can access.
2. The door to the kitchen was not locked and was ajar. This would allow children access to the kitchen and harmful substances, including disinfectant and knives.Plan of Correction: All hazardous substances were locked during the inspection. Staff will be reminded to keep all hazardous substances in locked locations.
