Discussed background checks that will be expiring soon. Background checks expire after five years.

Discussed model forms available on the Child Care VA website that can be used to ensure all information is tracked, and recorded in accordance with the day care licensing standards.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 1:20pm-2:30pm. The inspector met with the acting director and reviewed requirements for continued licensure. There were 16 children directly supervised by 1 staff. The physical plant, 3 staff records, 4 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed napping. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-E
Description: Based on record review, the center's procedures for administering medication did not meet all requirements.
Evidence:
The medication authorization form for Child 2's medication did not include the duration the authorization is effective.

Plan of Correction: Medication forms will be filled out in their entirety to include how long a medication should be given.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-G
Description: Based on observation, medication did not have the pharmacy label with the child's name, the name of the medication, the dosage amount, and the time or times to be given.
Evidence:
The prescription medication for Child 1 did not have the pharmacy label attached.

Plan of Correction: All prescription medications have the name of the child, the name of the medication, the dosage amount and times to be given attached to a formal label on the medication box.
