Technical Assistance:
Discussed labeling all spray bottles. Discussed the food allergies and confirming if the allergy is diagnosed. Discussed the orientation dates for CPR/FA. Discussed the playground border.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 5/01/2023 from 9:36am to 12:53pm. At the time of entrance, 113 children were in care with 20 staff members present. Children were observed playing outside, eating snack, washing hands, bathroom breaks, playing in centers, lining up to go outside and calling out here during name to face count, participating in the fitness room, working on a science experiment, coloring weather pictures, using droppers to fill water containers, watching a video on evaporation and having a group discussion about the video. The Infants were observed playing on the floor, being held, sleeping and playing in bouncy seats. Walls, bulletin boards and several other areas of the programming space was decorated with artwork, crafts and projects completed by the children. Interactions between the children and staff were positive. The site was clean, organized and contained an abundant supply of developmentally appropriate materials. A selection of staff and children records, medications, the physical space, evacuation drills, emergency supplies and attendance records were reviewed. Description: Based on observation, areas of the center inside and outside were not maintained in a safe and operable condition.
Evidence:
1. In the Elephants classroom, the paint was chipping under the calendar on the wall.
2. In the Penguin classroom, the chair fabric was tearing/peeling near the arm rest.
3. On the playground, the brown border is bowing and creating a space under it in 3 separate areas.

Plan of Correction: Have wall w/chipping paint repaired. R5/12/2023. Repair or replace chairs. 5/12/2023 Repair borders on playground. 5/31/2023.i

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place.
Evidence:
1. In the Ducklings class, a spray bottle of bleach water was on top of the counter near the sink and not locked.
2. In the Elephants class, a container of Lysol wipes, Lysol spray, air wick spray, poo pourri spray and Febreze spray were on a higher shelf in the classroom not locked.

Plan of Correction: Ensure all bleach spray bottles are properly locked in cabinet. Remove/Lock up listed items.
