The program director states that children are not utilizing the outdoor play equipment at this time due to the need for resilient surfacing. Today we discussed other opportunities for children to have a minimum of one hour outdoor time daily. Walks and play taking place in the grassy field next to the play area are both acceptable - however, you should ensure that your posted, written activity schedule reflects that this outdoor time is occurring since it is a required daily activity.

A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 5/1/2023. There were 13 children present with 2 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 12:15 pm and concluded at 1:55 pm.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-A Description: Based on a review of records and interview, the licensee did not ensure that all employees, applicants and volunteers undergo background checks in accordance with subsection B prior to employment or beginning to serve as a volunteer and every five years thereafter.
Evidence:
Four (all) staff records were reviewed.
The records for staff #1, staff #2, staff #3 and staff #4 contained results of a search of the central registry which were dated more than 5 years ago.
The program director confirmed that there were not current results of a Search of the Central Registry available for the four staff who work at the center.Plan of Correction: The program director stated that this was an oversight and that she did not realize the results had expired.
New requests for Central Registry Checks will be submitted this week and a copy of the requests and payment sent to the inspector as confirmation within 10 days.
