Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today with the Director from 10:40 am to 11:50 am. The director was present with 59 preschoolers with 8 staff supervising. The ages of the children ranged from 3 to 5 years. The Licensing Inspector was able to observe outside time on the playground with a 4/5 year old group, children singing in the PreK room and story time in the three year old room. Medication and an allergy care plan for one child was reviewed. There have been no injuries/accidents requiring documentation for 2023. Six staff and five children's files were reviewed.
The fire inspection was dated 1/20/23, and the health inspection was dated 10/17/22.
The area of non compliance is outlined on the violation notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-L
Description: Based on observation and interview it was determined that medication was not kept in a locked place.
Evidence:
Epinephrine was stored in an unlocked book bag on the playground for Child A.

Plan of Correction: The medication is always locked except when carried onto the playground. The medication is monitored closely to prevent access by anyone other than the staff.

We will obtain a portable container that locks when the medication is on the playground.
