Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was offered related to background checks, sink in the infant classroom, diaper table in the 2's room, licensing regulations related to staff trainings, and sleeping infants and toddlers.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:55 am to 1:40 pm. There were 34 children present with 7 staff supervising. The children were observed playing outdoors on the playground, transitioning to their classrooms from outside and the bathroom, and preparing for lunch. There were no medications on site. 5 staff records, 3 children's records and other center documents were reviewed. Areas on non compliance are noted on the violation notice. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on observations, areas inside the center were not maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
1. Peeling paint was found on the wall by the back exit door in the Gummies (2 yr. old) classroom.
2. The stall dividers in the restroom used by the school age children was found to have peeling paint a rust.
3. The door leading into the Hershey's (3 yr. old) classroom has deteriorating (broken) wood by the latch and at the right bottom corner, posing an injury hazard for the children.
4. The home living furniture in the school age room was found to be dirty with dust that had settled into the furniture.

Plan of Correction: 1 &2. Areas will be repainted. 3. The door will be repaired so there is no injury hazard or removed. 4. Furniture was cleaned.

Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were accessible to children.
Evidence: A bottle of air freshener was found on top of the paper towel dispenser in the school age bathroom.

Plan of Correction: The air freshener was removed and put in a locked cabinet.
