Comments:
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 04/27/2023 and concluded on 04/27/2023. There were 89 children present, ranging in ages from 3 months to 5 years, with 16 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 9 child records, 5 staff records, and 1 medication authorization was reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:
1. The two-year old classroom there was a bottle of Lysol Disinfectant Wipes sitting on a shelf above the sink. It was not in a locked location.
2. The Lysol Disinfectant Wipes stated to "keep out of reach of children".
3. The three-year old classroom had an unlocked cabinet containing cleaning materials: sanitizing bleach water. The lock on the cabinet was observed to be broken and inoperable.

Plan of Correction: Director will begin walking through classes to make sure that hazardous materials are locked up and inaccessible to children.
