A complaint inspection was conducted on May 15, 2023 from 10:45 A.M.-12:00 P.M.. A complaint was received in the Office of Child Care Health & Safety (Valley) on 05/10/2023 regarding handwashing, diapering procedures, and required postings of communicable diseases. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff and supervision, programming and special services. Three staff were interviewed, required postings, and
classroom observations were conducted.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-B Complaint related: No Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that the diapering surface was cleaned with soap and water, and sanitized after each use.
Evidence:
1. In Classroom #3, Staff #1 was observed completing a diaper change. Staff #1 completed the diaper change and handwashing procedures. The Licensing Inspector had to ask if she were going to clean the diapering surface. Staff #1 sprayed bleach water on the surface and immediately wiped the surface dry. Staff #1 did not clean with soap and water first, and did not let the sanitizing agent air dry.
2. In Classroom #10, Staff #2 was observed completing a diaper change. Staff #2 sprayed the diapering surface with soap and water, and bleach spray at the same time. Staff #2 did not first clean the surface with soap and water and wipe dry.Plan of Correction: In response to the violation of following correct diapering procedures noting the non-compliance of the cleaning and sanitizing of the diapering area upon immediate completion CHSKCEHS will:
1. Ensure all staff are retrained and evidence meeting competencies in 8VAC20-780-500 handwashing and toileting procedures. The diapering area surface shall be used only for diapering or cleaning children and it shall be cleaned with soap and at least room temperature water and sanitized after each use.
2. Staff in Classrooms #10 and #3 will receive personnel counseling for the infraction aligned with any previous personnel infractions.
