This monitoring inspection was initiated by licensing staff and concluded on 05/23/2023, between the hours of 10 am to 12:30 pm. There were 2 preschool children present with 2 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration; physical plant; staffing and supervision; programming; medication; special care and emergencies; and nutrition. A total of 2 children records, and 8 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined that there were (2) non-compliances with the applicable standards. These violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the center.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-70 Description: Based on review and interview, 1 of 8 staff files reviewed indicated that not all of the required documentation was contained within each record.
Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection, 0 of 2 references were on file for Staff #8.
2. The start date for Staff #8 was listed as 05/19/23.Plan of Correction: At least 2 references will be placed on file for this staff person.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-245-L Description: Based on review of all 8 staff files, there was not at least one staff member on duty who has obtained within the last three years instruction in performing the daily health observation (DHO) of children.
Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (05/23/2023), from the hours of 10 am to 12:30 pm, there was not a staff person on site that held a current certification in DHO training.
2. The staff on site during the inspection were Staff #2 and Staff #6.
3. Starting at 12:30 pm, Staff #3 arrived to the center to begin work. At that time, the center fell into compliance with this standard.Plan of Correction: This non-compliance was corrected on the date of inspection (12:30 pm). Staff will be scheduled to ensure that at least 1 person that holds this certification is on site.
