This Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was initiated by licensing staff and concluded on 05/23/2023, between the hours of 10 am to 12:30 pm. There were 2 preschool children present with 2 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined (1) non-compliance with the applicable standards, code, and/or law. This violation was documented on a Violation Notice issued to the center.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-F Description: Based on review, 1 of 8 staff files indicated that the department's health and safety update course was not completed for the past year.
Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (05/23/23), a certificate of completion for the 2022 health and safety update course was not available for review for Staff #4.
2. The start date for Staff #4 was listed as 12/03/2021. The center's vendor agreement was signed on 03/30/2022.Plan of Correction: The department's health and safety update course for 2023 will be completed; and then annually thereafter for each comping update course.
