Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 1:30 PM -3:30 PM. At the time of entrance, 65 children were in care with 10 staff members present. The sample size consisted of 7 children?s records and 7 staff records. Children were napping, preparing for and eating snack and playing outside,
Violations were found and are identified within this report. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-M
Description: Based on observation and staff interview, the licensee did not ensure the center shall maintain, in a way that is accessible to all staff who work with children, a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions. This list shall be dated and kept confidential in each room or area where children are present.

Evidence: Staff #7 confirmed that in the Windows #1 room there was a child, Child #1, who has a diagnosed food allergy (peanuts and eggs) and they were not listed on the food allergy paper that documents children with food allergies, sensitivities or preferences.

Description: Based on record review and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure there was a written care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.

Evidence: The record for child # 1 has a diagnosed food allergy (eggs and peanuts) and the record did not include a written care plan, to include instructions from a physician.
