Technical Assistance:
Discussed medication authorization forms and allergy care plans. Standard 60-A8 requires that a written care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction be on file. Best practices is to have this care plan with the child at all times.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:30am - 1:00pm with the director. There were 99 children, ranging from four months to five years of age, present with 20 staff supervising. Infant care was observed, and older children were observed engaged in free play activities in a variety of centers, reading books, eating lunch and napping. Lunch served today: chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, carrots, pineapple, and milk. Five child records, five staff records, and six medications were reviewed along with the emergency drill log, daily attendance, written allergy list, fire and health inspections, and required posted information. If you have further questions about this inspection please contact Donna Liberman at 540-359-5244 or Donna.Liberman@doe.virginia.gov.
