Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 5/31/2023 with the center staff. There were 52 children present, ranging in ages from 2 years to 5 years, with 8 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 0 staff records were reviewed. The children were practicing for graduation, working puzzles, drawing pictures, and having lunch.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-P
Description: Based on review of seven medications, the facility failed to notify parents that that the medication must be picked up within 14 days of the authorization expiring or that a new authorization should be completed. Evidence: The medication authorization for one medication for Child A expired 5/09/2023. The authorization had not been renewed and the medication was not returned or destroyed as required. The medication was on site.

Plan of Correction: The authorization will be renewed or the medication will be returned to the parent.
