The Licensing Inspector initiated and completed an unannounced monitoring inspection on 5/31/2023. The inspector was on site from 10:05am until 1:50pm.
There were 62 children under the care of 16 staff. The ages of the children ranged from four months to ten years old. The children were observed during indoor free play, outdoor play, lunch and naptime. Five children?s record, one medical record and five staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-2 Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to ensure that no person shall be hired for compensated employment prior to the facility obtaining an employment eligibility letter upon the competition of a fingerprint background check as required by the Code of Virginia.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-B Description: Based on observation and interview, the center failed to ensure the diapering area shall have a leakproof covered receptacle for soiled linen.
Evidence: In classroom #1, there was an inoperable foot operated diapering pale with the lid open. Staff was asked why the lid was open and answered with ?that?s how they use it since the foot petal does not work.?
