8VAC20-790 SUBSIDY REGULATIONS

A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was conducted on June 12, 2023 with the center director and staff. There were 78 children present with 15 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1 Description: Based on staff interview and review of seven staff records, the facility failed to have each staff current in first aid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) within 90 days of employment. Evidence: Staff 4 (date of employment 9/19/2022), Staff 5 (date of employment 9/19/2022), Staff 6 (date of employment 10/11/2022), and Staff 7 (date of employment 12/05/2022) did not have CPR certification. Staff 3 (date of employment 12/19/2022) did not have documentation of an in-person competency demonstration. Management confirmed that staff did not have certification. Plan of Correction: A first aid and CPR certification class is scheduled for 6/14/2023.
