Technical Assistance:
The provider must send documentation to the LI that the background checks have been requested no later than 10 days following this notification dated 6/14/2023. Once the background check is received by the center, the results must be forwarded to the licensing inspector.

Plan of Correction: 1) Make corrections by adding all missing information. Ensure all staff orientation is up to date per VDOE changes.
2)Make sure new hire sign off on first day of training and all areas completed.

(C1) Based on staff statements and record review, the center failed to ensure children?s care, protection, and guidance.
Evidence:
1. A review was conducted of incident and accident reports for children in the Toddler classroom between 5/25/23 and 6/15/23, in response to a complaint of excessive biting and scratching.
2. A total 8 reports for biting and 2 reports of scratching had been completed by center staff between 5/25/23 and 6/15/23.

Plan of Correction: 1) Staff will undergo an in person training/seminar that covers children's care, protection and guidance in the classroom; with the focus on biting/scratching. A certificate of completion for the following trainings will be kept on record in all staff files.
2) To prevent and lessen biting and scratching in the toddler class changes to the classroom environment will be addressed where needed. staff will continue to work on professional development and receive professional guidance.
3) Director and teachers are responsible for ensuring children's care, protection and guidance.

On the date of inspection, center management could not provide written policies and procedures to describe how the center will ensure that each group of children receives care by consistent staff or team members.

Plan of Correction: 1) Director in collaboration with admin staff will work on drafting and implementing a written policy and procedures plan describing how each child receives care by consistent staff/team members. Staff will sign as part of employee handbook and record kept in staff files.
2)Provide new hires with copy as part of orientation/staff agreement.
3) Director is responsible for drafting and providing staff with all written policies and procedures.
