Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 12:05 PM -2:45 PM. At the time of entrance, 55 children (age range 5- 11) were in care with 6 staff members present. The sample size consisted of 5 children?s records and 5 staff records. Children were observed returning from the pool, preparing for and having lunch and playing outside. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-770-70-A
Description: Based on a record review and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure that staff have documentation to demonstrate the individuals have the education, training and certification, required by the job position.
Evidence: The records for Staff #1 and Staff #2, are as program leaders, and do not have documentation in their records to demonstrate they have the training/education rand experience required for program lead. Staff #1 only has documented 4 months experience working with children and there is not documentation of training /education available for review as required. Staff #2 does not have documentation of working with children available for review

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-540-B
Description: Based on observation and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure first aid kit shall be easily accessible to staff but not to children.
Evidence: A large first aid kit in a plastic box that contained ?the extra first aid supplies? as stated by the Center Director was sitting on bookshelf easily accessible to children in care.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-C
Description: Based on documentation review and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place procedures or maps shall be posted in a location conspicuous to staff and children on each floor of each building.
Evidence: The preschool building did not have evacuation and shelter-in-place procedures or maps posted. During the inspection there were 18 children ages 5-7 observed in the preschool building.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-F
Description: Based on observation and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure that when centers choose to provide meals or snacks, they shall have a menu listing the food to be served for meals and snacks during the current one-week period.
Evidence: The menu for the current week did not include all the food items that were to be served for the current. It only listed an entree (corndog) and milk for the lunch served on July 10, 2023. Center staff were also observed serving corn, 100% fruit juice and goldfish crackers, as a part of the lunch. Center director confirmed they had planned to serve snack on July 10, 2023 and it included mixed fruit and milk however, it was not listed on the menu.
