An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 9:15 am-11:15 am. There were 60 children directly supervised by 12staff. The physical plant, staff records, children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, reading books, playing outside, participating in water play washing chairs and eating snack. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an ample supply of materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-B Description: Based on observation, the diaper changing pad was not nonabsorbent as required.
Evidence: The diaper changing pad in the Discovery classroom had a small tear.Plan of Correction: Replaced during the inspection.
