Technical Assistance:

Provided technical assistance on standard: 1) 500B: the diapering area shall have: a leakproof, covered receptacle for soiled linens 2) 530B: current certification in CPR shall include an in-person competency demonstration from an organization such as: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute or National Safety Council; 3) 550: the emergency preparedness plan shall include procedural components including: a. Sounding of alarms; b. Emergency communication; and c. Evacuation/Shelter-in-Place/Lockdown procedures that include: i. securing of essential documents, methods to ensure any health care needs are taken to the assembly point or relocation site ii. Method of communication with parents and emergency responders iii. Accommodations or special requirements for infants, toddlers and children with special needs to ensure their safety during evacuation or relocation d. These procedural components are needed for each type of emergency scenario, and must be spelled out in the plan 4) 560C: the center shall schedule snacks or meals so that there is a period of no more than three hours between each meal or snack

Comments:

An announced initial inspection was conducted from 10:00 am ? 3:00 pm with management staff and the center director. No children were present during this inspection. A qualified director is in place and was present during the inspection. All 10 classrooms and the Make Believe Blvd. were observed and measured for capacity. The center is well-equipped with age and stage appropriate furnishings, equipment, and materials. The 16 cribs meet Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) federal safety standards for cribs (manufactured 2022). Two staff records and one applicant record were reviewed. The center's policies and procedures and emergency supplies were inspected and determined to be complete. The outdoor area was observed.
