An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between the hours of 10:00am-12:15pm. There were a total of 114 children with 18 supervising staff members present. Children were observed during singing, handwashing, bathroom breaks, engaged in group activities and outdoor play time. A selection of staff and children records, medications and other documents were reviewed. The physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-A Description: Based on observation, children's hands were not washed with soap and running water after toileting.
Evidence:
1. In the preschool classroom (3 year old classroom), one child was observed not washing their hands with soap and running water after toileting.Plan of Correction: All preschool teachers will be retrained on ensuring all children wash their hands after toileting as well as handwashing procedures.
