22.1 Early Childhood Care and Education

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 2:00 p.m. and ending at 3:45 p.m. with the director. There was one infant, age seven months under the care of one staff observed sleeping and during pick up. Classroom areas, supplies and materials were observed.
Two staff records and two children's records were reviewed.
The center plans to open an additional classroom for toddlers and the classroom has adequate supplies, materials and space for 15 children.
The playground area was inspected. There shall be no more than 10 children on the playground at any one time.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-E Description: Based on review of children?s records and documentation, it was determined that the licensee failed to ensure that the center?s activities, services and facilities were maintained in compliance and the terms of the current license. Evidence: In the registration paperwork, the center offers hours of service beginning at 4:00 a.m. and ending at 11:45 p.m.; the licensee submitted hours of operation during licensure of 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Plan of Correction: Our registration paperwork was revised with our hours of operation from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A Description: Based on review of documentation, not all children?s records contained required information. Evidence: Child #1?s record was missing an emergency contact other than the parent, full address and phone number and work information for each parent/guardian including place of employment and telephone number. Child #2?s record was missing work information for each parent/guardian including place of employment and telephone. Plan of Correction: Our registration paperwork was revised and now requires parents to input their work information including place of employment/telephone.
Child #1 and #2 records have been updated with all the missing information
