Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-M
Description: Based on observation and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure the center shall maintain, in a way that is accessible to all staff who work with children, a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions. This list shall be dated and kept confidential in each room or area where children are present.

Evidence: In the Toddler Room Child #1 has a food sensitivity (milk) and the allergy / sensitivity food list did not include Child #1 and was not dated. Staff #6, Toddler Lead Teacher confirmed Child #1 had a milk sensitivity.

Plan of Correction: All classroom allergy/food sensitivity list have been updated to include children with parent preferences regarding foods they believe their child to be sensitive to in addition to all children with medically documented food allergies sensitivities.

All list were updated to reflect this addition o t he evening of 8/21/23 and posted on 8/22/23.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-A
Description: Based on observation and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure children's hands shall be washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after eating meals or snacks.

Evidence: In Toddler Room 6 children were observed preparing for and eating snack and the children?s hands were not washed or a wipe used on their hands prior to eating.

Plan of Correction: Staff are reminded that they must always wash the children's hands with soap and running water or wipe them with a disposable wipe before meals even if the staff had washed the children's hands moments before the children had the opportunity to touch classroom items in between the washing and mealtimes.

As a part of mela prep, as hands are washed children will be placed at the table as to prevent them from touching classroom items.
