An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 08/24/2023 from 9:25 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. There were 12 children present, ranging in ages from four months to four years old with five staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and five staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-330-B Description: REPEAT VIOLATION
Based on observation and interview, the center failed to provide resilient surfacing that complies with minimum safety standards where playground equipment is provided.
Evidence:
1. The pea gravel measured four inches around the red climber, five inches by the ladder of the blue climber and one inch at the bottom of the slide of the blue climber.
2. Staff #1 confirmed that the pea gravel did not meet the minimum requirement of six inches.Plan of Correction: Buy several bags of pea gravel and place under monkey bars.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-A Description: Based on observations and interview, the center failed to ensure that children?s hands are washed with soap and running water after toileting or in contact with blood, feces, or urine.
Evidence:
1. Staff # 5 changed Child #5?s diaper and did not wash Child #5?s hands after the diaper change.
2. Staff #5 confirmed that she did not wash Child #5?s hands after the diaper change.Plan of Correction: Meeting with all employees and over over hand washing policies.
