A renewal inspection was conducted today, July 26, 2023. The inspector was on site from approximately 2:00 pm until 4:30 pm. The director was present and assisted in the inspection. There were 35 children present, ranging in ages from 13 months to eleven years, with seven staff supervising. School-age children were observed leaving for a walking fieldtrip to the local ice cream store with staff. Upon returning, children colored pictures, played a bowling game and a game of just dance. Preschool also children also participated in the fieldtrip to the ice cream store. Interactions between staff and
children were positive. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and five staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law. Violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-160-C Description: Based on review of five staff records, the center did not ensure that one staff obtained
and submitted the results of a follow-up tuberculosis screening at least every two years from the date of the initial screening.
Evidence:
The record of staff #2 contained documentation of a tuberculosis screening dated 06/03/2021, exceeding two years.Plan of Correction: Per the Director: I will have the staff update the tuberculosis screening.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure hazardous substances such as
cleaning materials were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
A canister of deicer spray was observed unlocked in the side door panel of the bus used to transport children. There were no children on the bus at the time of the observationPlan of Correction: The director removed the deicer from the van and placed it in a locked cabinet.
