The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. The children were observed having lunch, playing on the playground, and conducting a science experiment. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. Standard #: 22.1-289.035-A Description: Based on review of staff records, the child day center did not ensure all staff completed a background check every five years.
Evidence
Staff #1 (date of hire 03/23 does not have an unexpired Central Registry Search in their record. The Central Registry Search in their record expired 3/23.Plan of Correction: Staff will complete a CRS this week. I will send the results to my inspector
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-B Description: Based on observation the center does not have a leakproof or plastic-lined storage system that is either foot operated or used in such a way that neither the staff member's hand or the soiled diaper touches an exterior surface of the storage system in place. The diapering surface is not being cleaned and sanitized after a diapering with soap and water, patted dry, sprayed with a solution of bleach and water and allowed to air dry.
Evidence
The diapering area does not have a way to throw away soiled diapers without a hand touching the exterior surface of the diaper change.
Based on observation, the diapering surface is not being cleaned and sanitized after each use. The surface was cleaned with a wipe and sprayed with a solution of bleach and water.Plan of Correction: I will purchase a hands free trash can today.
We will begin immediately following the correct procedure for cleaning and sanitizing the diapering surface.
