An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted with the director on September 7, 2023 beginning at 11:36am and ending at 1:04pm. There were 11 children, ages 14 months through 4 years old, in the care of 3 direct care staff. The children were observed the children eating lunch. Five children?s records were reviewed and in compliance. Two staff records were reviewed. The first aid kit, flashlight, and battery-operated radio were observed and in compliance. There were no medications on site to be reviewed. The menu, daily attendance, and emergency drill log were reviewed. The most recent evacuation drill was documented as 7/21/2023. The most recent shelter-in-place drill was documented as 5/27/2023. The most recent health inspection was dated January 31, 2023. The most recent fire inspection was dated January 12, 2023.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-160-A Description: Based on a review of documentation, the center did not obtain documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening for each staff member at the time of employment and prior to coming into contact with children. Evidence: Staff 2' s (start date 08/2023) records did not have documentation of a tuberculosis screening. Plan of Correction: The director will request documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening from the staff.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-70 Description: Based on a review of documentation, the facility did not ensure that each staff record contained the documentation to demonstrate that the individual staff possess the education, certification, and experience required by the job position. Evidence: Staff 1 and staff 2's records did not have documentation of the education required by the job position. Plan of Correction: The director will ask facility staff to provide documentation of a high school diploma or college transcript.
