An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 2:00 pm - 3:45 pm. There were 61 children in care being supervised by 7 staff. The children were observed resting. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of six child records and five staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-E Description: Based on review of medication it was determined that the center did not follow procedures in regards to expired medication. Evidence: The emergency medication on site for child B expired 08/2023. Plan of Correction: Up to date medication was requested from the parents of child B.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-P Description: Based on review of medication it was determined that not all medication was picked up within 14 days when the authorization for medication expires. Evidence: The medication authorization form for child A expired 07/21/2023. The medication was still on site. Plan of Correction: The medication was picked up by the parents of child A.
