Conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection of the preschool program at 10:22am. Observed 22 children + 3 direct-care staff. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were observed in a variety of activities to include an art activity that involved cutting with scissors and gluing, magnet play, blocks and puzzles. Staff were actively engaged with the children and activities. The classroom was found to be clean and well supplied with supplies and equipment for the children. An area of non-compliance with standards and laws reviewed was found. Questions about this inspection may be directed to pamela.sneed@doe.virginia.gov

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-4 Description: Based on records reviewed, the licensee failed to ensure that 1 of 2 staff records included required out-of-state background checks from states where the staff person lived in the past 5 years.
Evidence:
1. According to the job application and resume Staff #3 lived out of Virginia in the previous 5 years.
2. Staff #3 was hired 8/15/23 and to-date there is no documentation of an out-of-state criminal record check and central registry search/abuse and neglect.Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
