A mandated monitoring inspection was conducted on 11/02/2023 from 10:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. There were seven children present, ranging in ages from one year four months to two years of age, with 3 staff and one volunteer supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and five staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-A Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that staff completed handwashing as required.
Evidence:
1. Staff #1 was observed assisting a child use the restroom. The staff member did not wash their hands with soap and running water before and after helping a child use the restroom.
2. Staff #1 was observed changing diapers before lunch. Staff #1 did not wash their hands with soap and water before diapering. They just put the gloves on, and they did not wash their hands with soap and water after diapering the child.Plan of Correction: Met with all staff at to review handwashing and diapering procedures. 11/7/23 was a total staff training day. Diapering/restroom and handwashing procedures were demonstrated and practiced during the training.
